NGC4535

in Virgo

ngc4535

NGC 4535 is a stunning barred spiral galaxy located approximately 50 to 55 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. Due to its faint, hazy appearance when viewed through smaller telescopes, it’s often referred to as “The Lost Galaxy.” Discovered by astronomer William Herschel in 1785, the galaxy is a member of the massive Virgo Cluster, which contains around 2,000 galaxies. Its almost face-on orientation from our perspective allows for a clear view of its prominent features, including a central bar of older, yellowish stars and two main spiral arms filled with younger, hotter, bluish stars. All in all, I’m not that please with this image.  I needed more subs and the subs that I collected were not of high quality due to poor seeing.
