The foot pedal moves the spring loaded frame up and down. The table can be tilted over a range of angles, allowing for different thicknesses of veneer.
The pictures above are close ups of the table and the parts that hold the jeweler’s blade: The picture on the left shows the top and bottom pieces that hold the blade are sections of a jeweler’s saw that I cut apart. To tension the blade, I just turn the wing nut on the top (picture on the right). Wing nuts hold the blade in place (left picture).
Here is a close up of the frame and of the drawer slides which allow for easy cutting action by using the foot pedal (see very top picture) to move the whole frame up and down, guided by the drawer slides.
